NICE TO MEET YOU!

My name is Alycia - owner of this small business + maker of dog treats!

My husband, Gerry, and I live in a small town in central MA with our 2 dogs (Zeus + Abraham) + our 2 young daughters.

How it started:

I started making dog treats in 2019 as a way to give our dog, Zeus, “treat training” friendly goodies with minimal, simple ingredients that would repeatedly hold his interest. At the time it was just us + him [no children/Abraham yet!]. As a rescued husky mix, it was important to keep Zeus mentally stimulated + engaged in training. I found that even the smallest pieces of these treats consistently motivated him + still do years later!

As I would experiment with new treats, I would bring extras from batches to share with my co-workers at the time who had dogs of their own. Their dogs all loved the treats so much that my co-workers began asking to purchase full bags of treats + strongly encouraged me to pursue this as a small business. I made the decision to begin Canine Cookie Company + officially went into business December 2019 with my goofy husky’s face as my “logo” [he was, after all, the inspiration behind this whole thing].

When we adopted Abraham in February of 2020, I knew I wanted my label to represent both dogs without actually picturing either one specifically. I wanted it to be an image that could be generic enough to look like a customer’s dog at home, but still hinting at our boys. In our current logo you’ll notice the dog image has one ear up, and one ear flopped down. The one standing up [probably listening to every word you speak but not obeying] is for Zeus + the floppy side that just wants some scratches is for Abraham.

How it’s going:

All cookies are created with a hand-blended oat base + all jerky treats are sliced/piped thinner intentionally - for the option to be given whole, or broken up into small pieces for treat training. This also makes our treats friendlier towards puppies, older dogs + small/large breeds alike!
